Love Edison
Edison is a great resource for use with my students. Unfortunetly 2 of our Edisons arrived not working and troubleshooting did not work. Edison offered to replace them but it was too much hassle for shipping.

My favorite educational robot!
Edison is my favorite. I start the year with Edison because they can easily jump into learning about the senors. Then we use them to code movement, lights and sounds, plus repetition. Next, we use them to code the sensors, learning about conditionals. They code some challenge programs - some from the site and some of our own. Finally, they create a robot of their own, using the Edison to build upon with Legos and other supplies in the room. We also tried the pen attachment this year so that was fun. We have not tried the add on build materials that are offered.
We use EdScratch and think it is great to use when you are new, because all the code blocks are there for you to experiment with.
I love them because you can introduce robotics to students who have never worked with them, and then move to building other robots and adding sensors, etc. You can really get into how robots work with Edisons!

Great controlled chaos
My primary students love exploring what the Edison robots can do, and are determined to add to the list of songs that it is possible to code on them.
The Lego compatibility is fantastic as it allows students to become more creative and explore how weight and lengths can affect the robots.
They do chew through quite a lot of batteries and they often have to recalibrate the wheels due to the robots being mostly used on carpeted areas. But overall they are a great little robot to use!

V3 is a big step forward for Edison
Good engaging activity for junior and middle years students using card coding or edScratch. V3 including the USB for charging and connecting is a big improvement as is including skid steers in the packaging. EdCreate can be used with pre planning or get students to conduct robot wars with limited EdCreate Lego enhancements and then use Sumo mode to find a winner.

A Robot That Has Kept My Students Coding Since 2020
I have been using Edison robots with my students since 2020. They were a perfect robot to send home with students during COVID, and I kept using them once we all returned to in-person learning. We recently upgraded to the V3 and the improvements in both charging and downloading programs have been great! The students love being able to program using both EdScratch and EdPy. Their favorite activity is sumo wrestling/battle bots.

A bit imprecise, but highly engaging and great for learning!
I used Edison v3 for a series of coding lessons with 8-year-old students.
Our initial idea was to build a custom track using 16 cm cork tiles as modular building blocks, programming Edison to move forward by a specific number of centimeters or seconds.
However, we noticed that Edison isn't extremely precise when measuring distance or timing its steps. To work around this, we had to use black tape markers on the track so the robot could detect the stops reliably.
Despite this minor drawback, the activity was a complete success! The children had a fantastic time, and the robot's slight unpredictability actually led to great discussions about real-world problem-solving—like handling momentum, traction, and sensor calibration.
Overall, it's a wonderfully fun and engaging educational tool, even if it requires a bit of creative adaptability.

Amazing for Elementary Grades
I teach computer science to students aged 5-11.I bought Edison educational robots to use with my Kindergarten students, but I found that they have amazing features for all grade levels. The devices are very durable. I appreciate that they can be coded with blocks, “scratch” style blocks, and written code. Any device can be used, even iPads with the flashing download feature. This versatility is amazing and I will be using these devices for years to come.

Edison robots at the University of the Third Age
Lifelong learning has a long-standing tradition at our university (VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, Czechia). At the Faculty of Economics, we offer a course entitled ‘A Modern Perspective on the History and Present of the World’ as part of the University of the Third Age programme. Our students are introduced to various applications of mathematics, statistics, computer science, robotics and AI. As part of this course, they also work with Edison robots. We have purchased 20 Edison V2 robots, including EdMat mats and EdCreate kits. By working with small Edison robots, the students can better understand how real, large robots and automatic sensors work. Our students enjoy this study module; some even say that, based on this experience, they have bought a robot for their children or grandchildren.
Unfortunately we do not have the latest generation, Edison V3, robots, as programming using the cards would also be very interesting for our students.

newer versions are better
I started out teaching with Edison 7 years ago with V2. They worked great the first couple years, but then they started having compatablity issues with our chromebooks. We bought some sound adapters and that worked fine for a year or so, but not they don't work will all our chromebooks. The V3s are good. They seem to work with all our chromebooks, but we cant afford to replace all or v2. The lessons are great. The kids like the actvities, but the compatablity issues has become too much to use them anymore.

Awesome Edisons!
I have used Edison robots for three years in my Computer Science classroom. The students are mostly 3-5 grades and they totally love them. We love the line codes, and coding online as well. The online coding can be very simple up to very complex codes! In one lesson our 4th graders took sheet music and coded it online using the Edison music blocks. We had Twinkle Twinkle and Mary Had a Little Lamb coded and singing from many Edisons. I have even used the line coding with my Special needs students and they really enjoyed it. They really liked follow a light! It was also really fun to use legos and make robots monsters with our Edisons. Edison's are a must robot for schools to teach coding and have students highly engaged in the learning.

A decade with Edison: An ICT teacher’s review
Teaching primary ICT with the Edison robot (V2) since 2015 has been a fantastic journey. Edison is cheap, durable, fun, plug-and-play, and LEGO-compatible—making it perfect for young learners.
Because it works on time units rather than precise distances, turns aren’t always exact. However, this drawback becomes a great math lesson: students measure distances, track time, and calculate speed to navigate obstacles. Combined with EdCreate kits, it allows for impressive, complex builds.
On the downside, Edison lacks connectivity for extra peripherals like external motors or sensors. Additionally, localization is an issue: the programming software isn't available in other languages, and translated educational materials (especially in Greek) are now hard to find.
Despite these limits, I am truly grateful for this amazing educational tool, its software, and the supporting materials that have enriched my teaching for years.

Great for introducing programming to students with disabilities
I use Edison in the classroom to introduce programming to students with disabilities. It works very well for this purpose, and the students really enjoy using it. Edison makes programming more engaging and accessible for them.
One disadvantage is that our robots use batteries, which often run out during lessons. A rechargeable version would be much more practical for classroom use. The Edison V3, with its built-in rechargeable battery and charger, would be a significant improvement for us.

Best thing on 2 wheels
I have introduced coding to thousands of students across NSW using the Edisons Robot. It is a brilliant way to get students interested in Robotics without excessive costs. I believe the use of these floor robots give students a much greater understanding of cause and effect of things like friction and mechanics than coding games etc.

Edison for Libraries
We use Edison V2 in with kids in our library afterschool STEM program. What is great about them is the different modes of coding available to different ages and level of experience. Younger children enjoy the barcode coding and then they can progress to block coding and text coding. The web-based app is easy to use and there are loads of guided projects children can work on, or make up their own. You don't need to be an expert to run Edison Robot programs as there are lots of help and trouble shooting ideas on the website. These robots are a great way to introduce children to coding and allows them to progress easily to programs such as Python. Highly recommended.

Year 3 and Year 4 Technology
We have been using Edison V3 robots in our Year 3 and Year 4 Technology and STEM lessons for several years, and they continue to be one of the most effective tools we have found for introducing coding and computational thinking to primary-aged students. Using EdScratch on iPads, students progress from simple commands to creating programs that control robot movement, solve challenges, and bring their ideas to life. In Year 3, students explore sequencing, algorithms, and debugging, while Year 4 students extend these skills through more advanced programming tasks and creative projects using the EdSketch attachment to create spirograph-style artwork. Edison provides a highly engaging, hands-on learning experience while remaining a cost-effective solution that enables equitable access to robotics and coding opportunities across entire year levels, ensuring every student can participate in meaningful STEM learning.

Creative and Easy to Use
I used my Edisons with my 4th grade students to code melodies that they had written using Half notes, half rests, quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests. Students were able to read their melodies from the staff and transfer to a code for the various rhythmic values and pitches. After that they were able to add in movements and make their robots dance to their melodies. They were able to try different lengths of time and turns to make the moves they wanted through experimentation. The students had a great time sharing what their Edison could do.

Easy classroom robot
I’ve been using the Edison robot (Version 3) in my classroom since last year. The students (around 8 or 9 years old) quickly get the hang of card-based programming. They enjoy working in groups on challenges, and it allows them to put what they’ve learned in ScratchJr into practice. This year, I’m planning to try out the iPad programming mode as well—we’ll see how it goes. I’m happy with the purchase. That said, I do wish it were possible to transfer programs via Bluetooth, though that would likely drive up the cost. I also have the construction kits, though I haven’t tried them out in class yet.

What an awesome robot!
I've been using Edison robots V3s for a couple of years, and it's been nothing but rave reviews ever since. I love the fact that it's USB-charged instead of batteries, that the download is through the same USB cord, and that you can still use the same lessons and activities from V2. Students love the fact that they can create with Legos, and my favorite activity is to turn the robots into an art machine with the LEGO pen holder. I am amazed by the different ways you can code the robot, and how there is some scaffolding from Blockly to text-based coding. My only suggestion is to add a platform that can show students what transition from blocks to text-based coding for our middle school students.

Pros: easy to use with Chromebooks! Cons: changing batteries
I like these bots a lot-even if they are the older version.Version 2 requires batteries so that is one extra factor to consider when using them for multiple classes. V.2 also connects through the headphone jack on a chromebook, which, as long as you know how to trouble shoot connectivity issues ,is not a huge problem. My kids were beginners so I think this robot was a great way to introduce foundational coding-to-robot programming skills. Our students like legos, so their "brick-aesthetic" appealed to them for that reason as well. I wish I could afford V.3 top get a set of those to compare - but overall I am pleased with performance, resources, and platform for the Edison V 2 .

Edisons Rock!
I teach 800 students per week k-8 and when we do our Edison units my students can not get enough. I have used Edison bots for teaching now 8 years and going from NXT S to Edisons is mind blowing how far advance Edison is from the past Lego Nxt. Patents always ask if I recommend Edison as a Christmas Present and I always say absolutely and many of my students now have their own Edisons. Students learn building, programming, and Edspeak. But its beyond that, students learn kindness, cooperation, team building, STEM life time skills. Every year of teaching I also learn something new about my Edison. Now sticker pack this year my students will be so happy. I only wish I had 800 of them so each student could really learn 1 on 1 and take an Edison home to keep learning. Wow Goals!

Brilliant robot
We purchased some Edison robots about 10 years ago and added to our collection since then. They are the most robust and versatile robots we use and ten years on are still going strong. We use them with 5 year olds to secondary school students as there are so many ways they can be coded. Recently we had some 12-year-olds code the music for the chorus and verses of the main song in their school musical. A week later we had six-year-olds incorporating them in their simple machine projects. Kids would love them at home, (you need at least 2 for extra fun) - and being Lego compatible they are popular with everyone. Sumo wrestling on the coding mats is a favourite! The variation in coding languages is great to meet the needs of all ages and abilities. These robots are among the best on the market.
