How do I know which Sony code to use?  The papers that came with the universal remote listed only numbers for tv and not dvd players and there are like 35 different ones for Sony tv.  The first one I tried seemed to work when I scanned the barcodes, but after I assembled the tank it didn’t.  I really don’t want to repeat that process 35 times.  Plus I’m buying a set of 10 for my class and buying/returning 10 remotes via mail until I find the right one is not a fun prospect!

Also, do I need to push the play button to start the tank moving or should it start when I push the first button on the remote?

Any of the 35 Sony TV code sets should work with Edison.

When using the EdTank with remote codes, Edison simply needs to be on, you dont need to press the triangle button.
Just turn Edison on and press a button on the remote

After you had built the tank, did Edison stop reacting to the remote codes entirely or was it performing different actions?

Remote Edison.

Not telling anyone to suck eggs but the simple process of setting the remote codes is misinterpreted by many students and myself. I accept fault and offer the following simple understanding.

Turn on edison

put edison next to barcode for scanning remote #0

press circle 3 times to record the barcode

then press the remote control button you want to assign to remote#0

the remote code should now be available to your program. Also use the clear remote option in scratch etc. after you have read the remote.

repeat for other buttons to be assigned.

e.g. 2

Turn on edison

put edison next to barcode for scanning drive forward

press circle 3 times to record the barcode

then press the remote control button you want to assign to driving forward

the remote code should now be available to drive forward without pressing play.

Heads up

The Australian Federal Parliament has passed a law that extends goods and services tax (GST) to low value imports of physical goods imported by consumers from 1 July 2018.

This means that all customers purchasing Edison robots and accessories with an Australian shipping address must now pay GST. The GST will be automatically added to your purchase and show as a line item on your invoice.

We've detected that you are in Australia, so we wanted to let you know that we have changed your settings to view our Australian site, which displays GST inclusive pricing.
