Hi Caleb

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The issue has now been resolved and your first piece of code works.

No one should experience this issue ever again.

I have edited this thread to reflect this and have locked it

Ok so I’m new to python

I’m trying to simply make the robot travel 10 inches and turn around 180 degrees

import Ed
Ed.EdisonVersion = Ed.V2
Ed.DistanceUnits = Ed.INCH
Ed.Tempo = Ed.TEMPO_MEDIUM

#——–Your code below———–
Ed.Drive(Ed.FORWARD, Ed.SPEED_5, 10)
Ed.Drive(Ed.SPIN_LEFT, Ed.SPIN_LEFT, 180)

————————–

This does not work… the robot travels forward a hair then immediately turns around 180

if I do this, however, it works – though with a second long pause before turning

import Ed
Ed.EdisonVersion = Ed.V2
Ed.DistanceUnits = Ed.INCH
Ed.Tempo = Ed.TEMPO_MEDIUM

#——–Your code below———–
Ed.Drive(Ed.FORWARD, Ed.SPEED_5, 10)
Ed.TimeWait(1, Ed.TIME_MILLISECONDS)
Ed.Drive(Ed.SPIN_LEFT, Ed.SPIN_LEFT, 180)

——————————–

why does waiting 1 millisecond make it work? but with a pause

moreover if I change it to 10 miliseconds or higher it doesn’t work again.

changing it to 1 second also works, but this time with no pause at all..ie correctly.

is this my ignorance of python or a strange behavior with the new software / hardware… any light?

Hi!

This is a small bug in our system that was introduced with an update early in the week.

We are working on it and will have it fixed soon.

Ah good to know

thanks for your quick response.  I’m preparing to start using a fleet of edisons with my students and I was seriously questioning my grasp on reality 😉

keep up the good work!

Heads up

The Australian Federal Parliament has passed a law that extends goods and services tax (GST) to low value imports of physical goods imported by consumers from 1 July 2018.

This means that all customers purchasing Edison robots and accessories with an Australian shipping address must now pay GST. The GST will be automatically added to your purchase and show as a line item on your invoice.

We've detected that you are in Australia, so we wanted to let you know that we have changed your settings to view our Australian site, which displays GST inclusive pricing.
