Here is our program.

When we run it , it only works sporadically, if all all. Then it might work but only an inch away on one side. We changed batteries and re calibrated. I am assuming we have missed or misunderstood something?

is there possible value in using a variable , i.e.   x = Ed.ReadObstacleDetection() ........then saying if x ==  Ed.OBSTACLE_RIGHT   ?

#-------------Setup----------------

import Ed

Ed.EdisonVersion = Ed.V2

Ed.DistanceUnits = Ed.TIME
Ed.Tempo = Ed.TEMPO_MEDIUM

Ed.ObstacleDetectionBeam(Ed.ON)
#--------Your code below-----------

while True:
     Ed.Drive(Ed.FORWARD, Ed.SPEED_2, Ed.DISTANCE_UNLIMITED)
     Ed.ReadObstacleDetection()               #we put this in extra to see if it helped

     if Ed.ReadObstacleDetection() == Ed.OBSTACLE_RIGHT:
          Ed.Drive(Ed.Ed.BACKWARD, Ed.SPEED_2, 2000)
          Ed.DriveLeftMotor(Ed.FORWARD, Ed.SPEED_2, 2000)

     if Ed.ReadObstacleDetection() == Ed.OBSTACLE_LEFT:
     Ed.Drive(Ed.Ed.BACKWARD, Ed.SPEED_2, 2000)
     Ed.DriveRightMotor(Ed.FORWARD, Ed.SPEED_2, 2000)

Heads up

The Australian Federal Parliament has passed a law that extends goods and services tax (GST) to low value imports of physical goods imported by consumers from 1 July 2018.

This means that all customers purchasing Edison robots and accessories with an Australian shipping address must now pay GST. The GST will be automatically added to your purchase and show as a line item on your invoice.

We've detected that you are in Australia, so we wanted to let you know that we have changed your settings to view our Australian site, which displays GST inclusive pricing.
