My new  Edison’s do not read bar codes consistently.
Sometimes pressing the round button does not produce any reaction

Other times the robot rolls over the code but pushing run does not run the program just loaded.

About 30% of the time it works fine.

What are we doing wrong.

How do you increase the volume. Our robots are barely audible.

Thanks Marc

Edison uses an infrared light sensor to read barcodes, detecting the difference in light reflected between white (off barcode) and black (a barcode stripe). To do this successfully, a few conditions must be met:

– Edison must be sitting off the barcode when the circle button is pressed, on a white surface, so that it can calibrate a good ‘off barcode’ reflection level

– The barcode must be printed at 100% scale and on a non-shiny surface (ie not gloss laminated), so that Edison can detect the black lines of the barcode stripes correctly

– The room lighting should be indoor lighting only, not direct sunlight or very bright lights, otherwise the amount of light reaching Edison’s sensor can overwhelm it, preventing it from detecting barcodes.

I hope this general information resolves the issue you are experiencing scanning barcodes.

If it does not, please use our Contact us form (…..ontact-us/ ) to get in touch so I can provide advice specific to your situation. Please also use that form to get in contact regarding your question about increasing volume.

Heads up

The Australian Federal Parliament has passed a law that extends goods and services tax (GST) to low value imports of physical goods imported by consumers from 1 July 2018.

This means that all customers purchasing Edison robots and accessories with an Australian shipping address must now pay GST. The GST will be automatically added to your purchase and show as a line item on your invoice.

We've detected that you are in Australia, so we wanted to let you know that we have changed your settings to view our Australian site, which displays GST inclusive pricing.
