What is a clear skid?

Every Edison robot comes with a clear, removable skid already in the robot. This skid is the little clear bump located on the underside of the robot near the line tracking sensor.

The clear skid helps keep the front of Edison up off the surface below the robot. This is especially important to enable Edison to use the line tracking sensor correctly in order to read barcodes, follow lines and run other types of programs.

You can remove the clear skid from your robot by pulling the skid out from Edison’s orange chassis. In general, this is only necessary when you are doing build and engineering projects with Edison, including the EdCreate EdBuilds.

Heads up

The Australian Federal Parliament has passed a law that extends goods and services tax (GST) to low value imports of physical goods imported by consumers from 1 July 2018.

This means that all customers purchasing Edison robots and accessories with an Australian shipping address must now pay GST. The GST will be automatically added to your purchase and show as a line item on your invoice.

We've detected that you are in Australia, so we wanted to let you know that we have changed your settings to view our Australian site, which displays GST inclusive pricing.
